Subject: Important update about your Trade Nation account
Dear [client],
We are sorry. An unauthorised party exploited a vulnerability in a third-party reporting system used by Trade Nation, and accessed client records on 15th September.
We found the breach on 22nd October, took the system offline and removed their access the same day.
Your password, card details, bank account details and funds are safe. They were never accessed. The impacted reporting system does not hold this data. Unfortunately, some of your personal data was accessed.
What information was accessed?
Some of the information you provided during your account opening including name, email address, telephone number, date of birth, postal address and nationality.
Importantly, what was not accessed?
- Your password
- Card numbers and bank account details
- Your funds
- Access to your trading platform and portal account
- Your trades and trade information
What we have done
- Took immediate actions to remove the unauthorised party's access after closing the route they used to gain access
- Initiated a full review of all of our systems
- Notified you and the relevant regulators
What this means for you
We recommend following these 3 sensible security precautions.
- Watch for scams. We will never ask for your password, one-time codes, 2FA codes or full card number by email, phone, text or message. We will never ask you to move money to another account for safekeeping. Be wary of clicking links in any message about your account, even if it looks like ours. Check the sender's email address. We only write from tradenation.com addresses. In case of doubt, go to tradenation.com directly. Check your statements and tell us at once about anything unfamiliar.
- Change your password. No passwords have been compromised. However, good practice is that you reset your password regularly.
- Turn on two-factor authentication. We also offer two-factor authentication (2FA) to all our clients to protect your account even further.
